All of Project Crossroads’ services are free of charge to qualifying applicants. Volunteers are the heart of our ministry, and many of our services would not be possible without local and visiting volunteers. By God’s grace, we receive the gift of His love and salvation, and we share that love with our community through our ministries.
Project Crossroads has a formal application for home rehab services; details are below. For firewood, furniture, or emergency repairs, please call the office (276-782-3339) for assistance. The office is staffed on Thursdays. We will work to return your call at our earliest convenience.
Project Crossroads does not have programs to assist with emergency housing or utility bill assistance. Please see our Resource Links for other agencies in the area.
HOME REHAB
Much of our work focuses on safety and accessibility needs in homes. Flooring repairs, bathroom remodels, ramps, and porches are common projects we undertake. We also will work on siding, windows & doors, and painting to ensure homes remain warm. We do not work of roofs or do roof replacements.
In order to qualify you must have owned your home for at minimum five years and meet income qualifications. Most of our rehab occurs during the late spring to early fall when the weather is more conducive to working outdoors. We begin receiving applications January 1st and will receive applications until we have enough work for our summer volunteers. You may be waitlisted if volunteer groups or skills are not available. Call the office for an application.
Call or email us from October through March to inquire about firewood deliveries. We work all year to stock seasoned hardwoods (no pine/spruce). Wood deliveries in February and March are often subject to availability.
FIREWOOD
We accept donations of used furniture and working appliances to regift to the community. Beds, dressers, chairs, and more! Call the office to inquire about availability.
FURNITURE
At Thanksgiving we sponsor the Warren Family Thanksgiving Dinner hosted out of First United Methodist Church. Meals are available for delivery, dine-in, and carryout. Our delivery area includes Marion, Atkins, Adwolfe, and Hwy 16 up to the ranger station. Other churches and community groups sponsor meals for Chilhowie, Saltville, and Sugar Grove. We begin taking reservations November 1. Watch our social media for information each year.
